Rapid Growth in Southern California
April 24, 2008

Due to rapid growth in Boyle’s Southern California district, the Ontario office has announced a reorganization. This new structure will allow the current Managing Engineer, Satish Kamath, PE, to transition into the role of District Director of Wastewater Treatment in a full-time capacity. Having Kamath in this full-time position will allow the office to increase its share in the wastewater and reclaimed water treatment markets. Meichtry completed his bachelor’s and master’s studies in civil engineering at Loyola University, and Cal-State Long Beach, respectively, and obtained his MBA from Pepperdine. He is a licensed civil engineer with over 30 years of executive and leadership experience on complex water resource programs and infrastructure projects valued at over one billion dollars. Meichtry has held several operational roles and has a proven track record of cultivating clients and growing an engineering business. He was most recently Managing Director of a consulting firm that completed an acquisition where he was responsible for the integration of a forty-five person civil engineering firm into the existing office network. Prior to that, he was Vice President of a consulting firm with offices in Ontario and Victorville. During his tenure, staff grew from approximately thirty to over seventy-five. He began his career at one of the largest municipal agencies in the state, the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts, and has held positions at various consulting firms over the course of his career.

Boyle Is in the News for Helping UCF Meet Drinking Water Regulations
May 29, 2007

Boyle recently received mention in a water-quality-related television news report broadcast by WFTV9 in Orlando, Florida. The news segment dealt with elevated levels of haloacetic acids (HAA5) in drinking water produced by a treatment plant at the University of Central Florida (UCF). After determining that the elevated levels of HAA5 are a byproduct of the chlorination system used to disinfect water at the plant, Boyle engineers recommended the use of an ammonium hydroxide chemical-feed system to remedy the problem. UCF plans to spend approximately $300,000 to upgrade its treatment plant as suggested by Boyle. Boyle’s findings and recommendations constitute the bulk of a study and report of UCF’s on-campus treatment system.

Boyle Moves Up on ENR’s Top 500 List
April 30, 2007

Engineering News Record’s (ENR) Top 500 Design Firms list, published annually in April, ranks the 500 largest U.S. based designs firms, both publicly and privately held, based on design-specific revenue. Boyle Engineering has remained a fixture on the top 500 firms list since ENR conducted its first survey. In 2007, Boyle increased its rank from 155 to 108, up by 47 spots from 2006. Additionally, Boyle placed 69th on ENR’s Top 100 Pure Design Firms.

Boyle enjoyed a prosperous year in 2006, as evidenced by a backlog increase of 29 percent, coming off a 23 percent increase in 2005, which prompted staff growth of more than 34 percent last year.  Earnings growth has been even more impressive, increasing 250 percent year over year. Today, the company’s operations include offices in 22 U.S. cities.

Each year since 1964, ENR has surveyed the construction industry to determine the 500 largest engineering, architectural and environmental design firms in the U.S. ENR attempts to bring structure to an otherwise huge and chaotic industry by performing annual survey and ranking companies engaged in general contracting, specialty contracting, engineering, architecture, planning and studies. The rankings are based on annual revenue at home an abroad, and are further divided into specific market categories. ENR Sourcebooks take that market analysis to a more detailed level by ranking industry leaders in particular market subsets.

LBFH Honored For Engineering Excellence in Florida
December 18, 2006

The Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers (FICE) has recognized LBFH. Inc., a Boyle Engineering Company, for engineering innovation and excellence. The Palm City based consulting firm was named a Grand Award winner in the prestigious 2007 FICE Engineering Excellence Awards program for “OUA: Man vs. Microbes – An Innovative Surface Water Treatment Plant.” FICE honored LBFH for its work on the Okeechobee Utility Authority’s 5.0 MGD Water Treatment Plant expansion in which the firm used an innovative combination of treatment technologies to turn Lake Okeechobee surface water into high-quality, safe, and sustainable drinking water. Ballasted flocculation, peroxone addition, and dual-media filtration were combined together for the first time in Florida. This unique treatment process is able to handle the wide variations in raw water quality, remove blue-green algae, related cyanotoxins, and treat objectionable taste and odor through the use of ballasted flocculation and advanced peroxone disinfection (ozone combined with hydrogen peroxide). It proved to be an economical treatment option that protected, improved and expanded the community’s drinking water supply.

The treatment plant expansion not only impressed an esteemed panel of FICE judges, but also the client. “From concept through construction, the consultant kept us well informed of the status of the project. They listened to our concerns, understood our needs and presented us with various options, opportunities and possible solutions,” said John F. Hayford, Executive Director of the Okeechobee Utility Authority. The FICE Engineering Excellence Awards program is designed to recognize outstanding contributions to the consulting engineering profession. The judges representing government, education, transportation and the media selected the recently announced winners last month in Orlando. The top winners at the state level now proceed to the national competition administered by the American Council of Engineering
Companies (ACEC).
