Boyle’s transportation specialists are well acquainted with current roadway design practices and computer applications that complement them. The fruits of our labor in transportation are on public display as part of interstate and state highway systems and local arterials and secondary streets from coast to coast.

D.O.T. Specialist

Our transportation specialists around the country possess the qualifications to deal with the often-complicated requirements of Department of Transportation projects.

We have a string of successful D.O.T. projects in two states where interstate travel ranks among the highest in the nation: Florida and California. As a matter of fact, the Florida Department of Transportation was Boyle’s Number One client in terms of dollar volume of work in both 2004 and 2005. We’ve also handled D.O.T. projects in various parts of the Southwest and Rocky Mountain region.

Many of our D.O.T. projects involve complex upgrades to interchanges, which entail widened lanes, ramps, and overpasses, along with traffic control.

Traffic Engineering

Boyle engineers have performed several hundred traffic-impact studies, signal analyses, and flow/circulation studies.

Our team is familiar with, and routinely uses, the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices, most state D.O.T. design criteria, AASHTO guidelines, and FHWA design criteria. We have also prepared numerous maintenance and protection of traffic plans for federal, state, and local projects.

Roadway Design

Our staff has completed hundreds of primary- and secondary-roadway projects that spanned the entire design process—from conceptual layout and evaluation to final design and construction administration.

We offer a thorough knowledge of roadway design criteria, as well as a firm understanding of design review and construction processes. Our use of CADD technology has greatly assisted our roadway design activities, affording our engineers maximum flexibility in the development and evaluation of early design concepts. In fact, our flexible approach allows for significant changes until the very late stages of final design.

Roadway Utilities

Boyle offers considerable experience in utility work as part of its involvement in highway/roadway projects.

Our transportation engineers have been involved in extensive coordination and/or design of utility relocations for water, gas, storm drain, sewer, telephone, cable television, and electrical distribution lines.
